This series of escalators is unique not only in Hong Kong but probably in the world. It's long, it's fast and it's indispensable. It acts as the artery connecting different streets and neighbourhoods in the CBD and the Mid Levels. Without it, many businesses would not have started. These are not just the shops, cafés, bars and restaurants that one sees on the two sides of the escalators but countless retailers, offices, eateries, art galleries, antique shops, cooking schools that are located well beyond but all served by the escalators. Rents in the neighborhood may not be cheap but the benefit of location of industry more than compensate for it. Traffic on the escalators is also generated by non-commercial users. They are the residents who may have stayed home had there not been for these steel moving stairs. This is no exaggeration. Living on the hills makes buying a few apples a daunting if not impossible task for an elderly lady in her seventies. She could walk despite the incline, to her neighborhood fruit stall or the supermarket, that is if there's one within the distance she is able to cover. However, it is easier and less tiring for her to go up and down or down and up the escalators to do her grocery. She doesn't need to walk, the escalators do it for her. This simple example lets us understand that the significance and indispensability of these escalators cannot be overstated.… – show

I came here last night and paid $150 and it was empty. Ok, it's not their fault. I was told entry included a free drink. Ok, so I get a soda. The jacuzzi had no water, the staff is busy cooking themselves dinner, and they are using the rooms to dry towels. What a value for my money! The manager gave me a free entry pass and told me to come back the next day. I thought this was a fair gesture, so I made my way back today. I hand him my “free pass” and he says I have to pay $5 for towel rental. Free isn't exactly free, but I let it go because it's only $5. Well, the towel stinks. So I ask for “my free drink” and I'm handed an orange juice. At no time was I told I'd have to pay for it until I left. The time to mention you have to charge me for the drink is when I ask for “my free drink”. Another $20. OK, so this manager asks me to come back for free to make up for a bad experience, because I essentially paid $150 for nothing of value. Then he uses the “free entry” as an opportunity to charge me like it's a discount airline. It's only $25, but this is not how how you treat customers. Don't tell someone they can come back for free without disclosing that you're going charge for what was included the first time. What a disingenious “make good” offer. I'll go back to Soda Sauna where there's a nice environment, the staff isn't constantly cooking themselves food, and I get some value for my money.… – show
